📖 Mythology

Legend: Vaishno Devi was born as a girl to help destroy evil and maintain Dharma.

She meditated in the Trikuta Hills. A demon Bhairavnath tried to chase her, and she retreated into the cave.

Mata killed Bhairavnath outside the cave, forgiving him and granting him Moksha.

A Bhairavnath Temple near the shrine is visited after Mata’s darshan.
🚩 Pilgrimage

Starting point: Katra town (well-connected by rail, road, and air)

Trek of 13 km from Katra to Bhawan (main shrine) → by foot, pony, palki, or ropeway.

Helicopter services available from Katra to Sanjichhat (close to the shrine).

Open throughout the year (unlike Kedarnath/Badrinath), though Navratri is the most auspicious time.
